Early Learning in Medicine Clinical Conference Otago 2024 Early Learning in Medicine Clinical Conference Otago (ECCO) is an annual conference held for 2nd and 3rd year medical students at the University of Otago Medical School. This year will be the 19th iteration of ECCO that has been held by the Otago University Medical Students’ Association (OUMSA).
Our theme for 2024 is ‘WHAKAMANA: Unleashing the Potential’. Whakamana encapsulates the essence of empowerment and elevation which is what ECCO 2024 aims to provide. We have chosen this theme because as medical students we are the future of healthcare in Aotearoa and so we must reach new heights in knowledge, skill and compassion while building strength and unity with each other. ECCO 2024 will light the way for unlocking the capabilities of the next generation of Aotearoa’s health professionals.
This conference enriches students’ education by covering interesting and valuable aspects of medicine not normally covered in the pre-clinical medical curriculum. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from notable speakers, engage with panels of experts about topics regarding their medical careers and take part in practical workshops.
