ECCO is the premier conference for ELM students in Dunedin and is the core professional development opportunity outside of the normal medical curriculum for the majority of students.
The conference will be hosted on the 12th and 13th of September in Barnett Theatre, Dunedin Hospital. This year’s theme is “So you want to be a Doctor?”, where we hope to expose you to a diverse range of speakers and workshops from different specialities to provide you with a better understanding of life after medical school and help you to build skills and competence to aid with your future endeavours.
In addition to the keynote speakers and our community panel in the morning, the afternoon of Saturday 12th and all-day Sunday 13th will be dedicated to small-group workshops in the Hunter Centre. There are 10 workshops (so far!), for which you be able to attend 6. Whether you are interested in learning suturing from surgical consultants, getting a head start on ALM by practising venipuncture on each other, or wanting to expand your knowledge and skills in different specialties like pathology, radiology, orthopaedics and emergency medicine (to name a few)– there is a workshop for you!
To top everything off, there will be a fully catered gala dinner at the Otago Golf Club on the night of the 12th as a chance to mix and mingle with all your colleagues!
$45 for OUMSA members
$50 for non-OUMSA.
