Student Led Scholarships

Student Led Scholarships

The Student Led Scholarships are for medical students involved in volunteer organisations and with financial needs. The funds for the scholarships come from the Case Studies in Medicine books sold throughout the year. The number of scholarships available is dependent on the number of Case Books sold. The applications for these are collected by OUMSA and sent to the Clinical Cases Team for consideration. The decision to award a scholarship to an individual is determined by the Clinical Cases team not OUMSA.

Candidates must*:

To be eligible you must be:

  • A current medical student at the University of Otago
  • Must be significantly involved in a volunteer organisation
    • Significant involvement means an average time commitment of more than 3 hours per week during the academic year
  • Must be significantly employed in paid work during the academic year
    • Significant employment in paid work means an average time commitment of more than 5 hours per week during the academic year
